Frequently Asked Questions

The most common questions regarding VDI Profiler installation and usage.

VDI Profiler stores all settings in a centralized database called Datastore.
It is created during the VDI Profiler installation process after selecting Datastore as type of installation.

All Agents communicate with the Datastore using TCP/IP port n. 3003 by default.
It can be changed during Datastore and Agent installation or after installation following this procedure:

  • DATASTORE SERVER
  1. go to folder
  2. C:\ProgramData\VDIProfiler\Config
  3. edit file named port.cfg
  4. set the port of your choice
  5. save file
  6. restart service named “VDIProfiler Datastore Service”
  • AGENTS
  1. go to folder
  2. C:\ProgramData\VDIProfiler\Config
  3. edit file named port.cfg
  4. set the port of your choice
  5. save file
  6. restart service named “VDIProfiler Agent Replication Service”
  7. restart service named “VDIProfiler Agent Logon Service”

It may happen that several people use VDI Profiler Agent console at the same time in order to configure user's workspaces.

Datastore does not allow multiple editing at the same time. The first Agent console that starts editing settings, locks the Datastore database.

If you have some users working in a VDI environment using Windows 2025 RDSH Servers, some users using Windows 11, some users using both VDI systems and need different workspace configuration and registry entries you can create multiple configurations associated to virtual (and physical) PCs and Remote Desktop servers. Go to Agent console, click on manage and you will create multiple configurations for different environments and operative systems.
